Avac PED Live

DESCRIPTION
Avac PED Live is freeze - dried preparation containing attenuated Avac - 98 Strain of PED virus

COMPOSITION
Each dose contains at least 10^4,5TCID₅₀ of cell culture grown attenuated Avac-98 Strain and adequate quantity of vaccine stabilizer as excipient.

INDICATION
Avac PED Live is recommended for immunization of pregnant gilts and sow in order to protect newborn piglet from PED virus

PRINCIPLE AND MECHANISM OF IMMUNITY
PED virus infects the small intestine of newborn pigs during first two weeks of post natal period causing severe diarrhea and death. The new pigs can not be immunized by vaccination because it takes at least two weeks for development of immunity even if vaccine is given at birth. Therefore, the PED vaccine is given to sows to induce high level of secretory antibodies (IgA class) in the mammary glands. These antibodies (IgA class) in the blood. The milk secreted by mammary glands immediately after farrowing (colostrum) in rich in IgA antibodies and provides early local immunity to newborn pig.

DOSAGE AND USAGE
The vaccine should be reconstituted only with provided sterile just before use

- Do not shake the vaccine vigorously to prevent frothing.
Vaccine should not be administered according to following plan:
- Avac PED Live only
+ 1st vaccine inject 2.0ml by intramuscular (I/m) route 4 - 5 weeks before expected date of farrowing
+ 2nd vaccine inject 2.0ml by I/m route 2 weeks before expected date of farrowing.
- Combination with Avac PED Live and Avac PED K
+ For use in combination with Avac PED K, give Avac PED Live (0.2ml, I/m) at 4 - 5 weeks before farrowing and give booster dose with Avac PED K (2,0ml I/m)

PRECAUTIONS
- For animal treatment only. Avoid accident contact.
- Use only the sterile diluent supplied with the vaccine
- Reconstituted vaccine should be used with in 2 - 3 hours
- Use sterile syringes and needles
- Dispose used container and other material by boiling, incineration or by treatment with an appropriate disinfectant.

STORAGE
- Store vaccine at 2 - 8^oC (in a refrigerator).

PRESENTATION
- Vials of vaccine containing 1, 5, 20 doses with diluent liquid in bottle of 1, 10, 40ml
