DISCRIPTION
Avac ND-HB1 is a vaccine for protection from Newcastle Disease (ND). The HB1 strain of Newcastle Disease Virus is classified as mild Lentogenic strain suitable for vaccination of young chicks against Newcastle Disease. This is a live virus vaccine for the vaccination of chicks 1 day or older for primary and booster vaccination mainly for sensitization of uper respiratory tract epithelium against virulent ND virus of chicken.
COMPOSITION
Each dose of vaccine contains at least 106EID50 attenuated Newcastle Disease virus Hitchner B1 strain and sterilizers
INDICATION
This product is recommend for primary vaccination of chick for prevention of Newcastle Disease in the 1st week of age and may also use for booster vaccination during the laying period. It will include local immunity in chicken, from day of vaccination onward
First vaccination may be given to birds at 0-3 days of age by eye or nasal drop or spray vaccination. Vaccine can be administered in drinking water to older birds. It takes 10 to 14 day for humoral immunity to appear which may last for 2-3 weeks if a booster dose is not given.
PREPARATION OF VACCINE AND METHOD OF VACCINATION
Take out the vaccine vial from cold storage just before vaccination and place in ice bath. Remove cap of the diluent bottle and fix the provided hypodermic needle (20G) on the spout. Remove the plastic flip-off seal from the vaccine vial and transfer 1-2ml diluent into it by inserting the needle and squeezing the bottle. Very gently shake the vaccine vial (avoid vigorous shaking to prevent frothing) and use the diluent bottle as a pump to withdraw reconstiuted vaccine into the diluent bottle.
For intra-ocular (eye drop) administration: Place a drop of the vaccine solution in on the eye of each bird. Wait until the drop spreads properly, then free the bird.
For oral drop adminitration: Hold the chicks firmly in one hand and open the mouth of the chick by pressing mandibular joint. Place one drop (one dose) on in the mouth and close the beak with fingers.
    For spray vaccination
The reconstituted vaccine should preferably be dissolved in distilled cool, clean non-sanitized water. The volume of water should be sufficient to ensure an even distribution when sprayed onto the chickens. This will vary according to the age of the chickens being vaccinated and the management system, but 250 to 500 ml of water per 1000 doses is suggested. The vaccine suspension should be spread evenly over the appropriate correct number of chickens at a distance of 30–40 cm using a coarse spray, preferably when the chickens are sitting together in lesser lighted area.
For drinking water administration (use for layers and broilers): Reconstitute the vaccine as described earlier. Pour the reconstituted vaccine into another clean vessel containing approximately 4 liters. Mix well and distribute according to the table below which also gives the quantity of skim milk powder (SMP) to be added for stabilization of vaccine during administration.

Method of vaccination
Discontinue all medication and disinfectant from drinking water 24 hrs. before and up to 24 hrs. after vaccination. Rinse and flush waterers with clean non-sanitized water. Water starve the flock for at least 2 hrs. prior to vaccination. Provide adequate space so that at least two thirds of birds can drink at a time.
